The Quantity Surveyors (QS) Workgroup has released recommendations to attract talent, develop and retain professionals, and enhance the business sustainability of Quantity Surveying firms. These initiatives aim to support the transformation of Singapore's built environment sector. The recommendations are structured around three priorities: attracting talent into the profession, developing and retaining professionals, and enhancing the business sustainability of Quantity Surveying firms. The Workgroup recommends introducing new Quantity Surveying content in IHLs, onboarding firms onto INSPIRE, and strengthening the profession's identity. They also suggest raising the professional standing of QSes through accreditation and formal recognition in contracts. Additionally, the Workgroup recommends leveraging technology and AI to streamline workflows and developing a Value Articulation Framework (VAF) to define services at each project stage. These measures are intended to support the future of Quantity Surveying and ensure the profession remains relevant in a rapidly evolving industry.
The government is also exploring a more systematic approach to support Qualified Persons (QPs) in keeping pace with evolving regulatory requirements. This includes closer monitoring of QP submissions and developing competency bridging programmes. These initiatives reflect the Government's commitment to support BE professionals and firms in keeping pace with a more complex operating environment and support the next wave of transformation for the sector.
At the same event, five BE projects and two BE companies were conferred the prestigious BCA 'Project of the Year' (PoY) and 'Company of the Year' (CoY) awards respectively. Their achievements embody the spirit of transformation in the BE sector and are a testament to the high standards and deep capabilities that will continue to drive Singapore's BE forward.
